We had questions from the community about track operations for the winter. As you may know, the yellow gate is now closed and locked. That does not mean the park is closed. You’re welcome to walk your gear in and out and a lot of us have been doing just that. As the weather gets colder and whiter, there may be some hardcore RC’er that will brave the elements to run a pack or 2. As far as I know, there’s no winter use restriction but access will be hindered as there is no snow removal. Anyone that would like to volunteer time and/or equipment to keep the track accessible during the winter months is encouraged to contact us.

This was another very productive day. Members of the committee got a lot done with Jimmy’s help. Actually, we would not have been able to get as much as done we did without him. Big thanks to everyone who helped shovel, rake and run equipment. The burgers were really good too.
The track layout is complete but we still have much work to do. Although the surface has been compacted and has big O loosely fastened to the ground, if you plan on trying it out, avoid sideswiping or otherwise contacting the big O. The fasteners have not been driven home yet. If you hit them the wrong way at speed, it wont be a good RC day for you.
It’s been brought the committee’s attention that common safety practices are not being taken seriously. Please please, please, DO NOT let your children or pets run wild in the park while vehicles are running within. At this time we would like to remind you that park is use at your own risk and the city nor the committee assumes any liability. We DO NOT want injuries and following common sense safety practices will go along way in preventing them. We will be posting acceptable use and safety rule signage shortly but in the meantime, use common sense. If you don’t, someone will speak up regardless of who it is. And if the behavior is not modified, you will be asked to leave. We sincerely don’t want this to happen as we want everyone using the park to have fun.

These are the designs we have picked. The final layout will be a variation depending on final dimensions

Members of the committee and community met at the park to start the planning, design and cost projections of our first track . General layout will be a modified “L” shape with lane width of 12′ and banked curves/corners where needed. Starting from the backstop area, down the left field fence a 100″ or so, tight 180 degree corner, straight over whopp-de-doos, 90 degree left, 25′? straight, wide 180 degree and straight to the backstop again. Pictures to follow once we have a final design and start moving forward.
We are looking for donations of money and material for facility improvements:
-clay for track surface
-round drainage tube for lane dividers
-hardware to fasten lane dividers to the ground
-temporary drivers stand
Please contact email@example.com
